Sydney Metro Northwest (formerly known as North West Rail Link), between Rouse Hill and Chatswood, is under construction already and is expected to open in the first half of 2019.
Sydney Metro City & Southwest will extend the metro rail from Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour, through new stations in the lower North Shore, Sydney CBD and south west to Bankstown and is expected to open from 2024.
At least six new Sydney Metro stations are proposed to be built at Central, Pitt Street, Martin Place, Victoria Cross, St Leonards/Crows Nest and Barangaroo.
The NSW Government has also announced that a number of possible additional metro stations are being investigated, such as either Sydney University or Waterloo, and Artarmon Industrial Area.
Major construction is due to start in 2017 after a planning approval and consultation process.
As part of the construction process, a large number of commercial and residential properties are to be acquired. A number of owners and occupiers of affected properties have already received written communication from Transport NSW regarding the acquisition of their properties.
As soon as your property is affected by a compulsory acquisition, it is very important to get professional advice. Our experience has shown that, with the right advice, the amount of compensation obtained can sometimes be considerably more than first thought. It is important to obtain expert advice on valuation and legal issues so that you are fully aware of your entitlements.
